New comics this week Mar06

New comics this week

Oblivion Song #1 is the latest Robert Kirkman goodness. Post Apocalyptic setting…gives off an BPRD type vibe, with some colourful art. Captain America #699 continues to lead into the Cap #700…cover says it all! Justice League #40 is part 2 of Christopher Priest’s ‘Justice Lost’ storyline. His run has been very solid. East of West #36 brings us more of Death and his son and their journey to the end of the world…and the end of this series. Infinity Countdown #1 is your typical Marvel Event launch book. It’s all over the place, and Groot can talk now apparently. Yeah. Finally X-Men Red #2 which will hopefully show us where this particular X-Men team is going…and how it’ll be different from the Blue and Gold teams. Lots of good stuff this week! Neil’s Pick Batman #42: Tom King continues his great Batman run with the 2nd part of Ivy taking over the world…and turning the JL against Batman and Catwoman. Nice, classic type Batman story that utilizes the Ivy/Catwoman ‘friendship’ well…and leaves us with another interesting...

Neil’s Wednesday Comic Picks...

Saga #49 starts a new story arc after the 2 month break. This one will deal with ‘Fake News’ in a way only Brian K Vaughan can…my sense is we’ll get some ‘ripped form the headlines’ type storytelling with this one. Peter Parker Spectacular Spider-Man #300 is an oversized issue. This series has been really solid. I think Zdarsky is a bit too goofy sometimes, but he’s found the right balance of zany and touching with this book. Flash #41 continues the Grodd storyline (this is Part 3)…great run (pardon the pun). Wonder Woman #41 starts a new arc…where The God of War breaks free and looks to declare war on the Amazons....

Image Comics Graphic Novels...

Big restock on the fantastic Image Comics line!! Great titles like Kill or be Killed, Deadly Class, Saga, Paper Girls, Rumble, Rocket Girl, Black Magick, Fade out, Wicked and Divine and more!! Neil says: “Two great series that not everyone knows about are Deadly Class and Wicked + Divine. Both have a great cast of ‘young people’ characters, and both are edgy as hell and boundary pushing. Kill or be Killed I’ve talked about before, but if you like that, check out The Fade Out which is a great pulpy detective mystery set in Golden Age Hollywood. Paper Girls is just everything you like about 80’s movies all in one comic…with great leads and great dialogue. If you’re looking for something new/fresh to read, now is the time to come...
